Friday was free comic book day. It was no internet day for me. Saturday was, too. I have killed my internet. The fair access policy is not 200 mb in 4 hours as the Indian representative, Roger, told me. It is 200 mb in 24 hours as the Indian representative, Tim, told me yesterday morning when I was freaking out. Cough, gag, snort. What??? My kids play online games, they are on internet school, I upload photos, I download digi-kits. 200 mb goes fast in our house.
And then they stop our link to the real world. We go into withdrawal; we curl up into the fetal position. Life is dark. Not really. I have a bunch of books I am reading. But it is exceedingly annoying. They changed the policy April 18th and didn’t inform me. We have gone from 169 mb in 4 hours to 200 mb in 24 hours. Time to write a letter.
Didn’t they know that Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day with tons of annual digi-sales, chats, and free downloads? Grrr. Don’t they know what agony through which they put me?
On to the topic. What were your favorite cartoons?
This website gives you a Saturday morning lineup year by year. I think it was safe to say by the looks of it, we were CBS kids in our family.
Saturday morning cartoons from my childhood: Speed Racer (Toasty Racer), Mighty Mouse (he can save me any day, now), Jetsons (I need the maid here, pronto – did you know they did ONE season of this and televised reruns for decades?), Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Johnny Quest (and his cool friend, Hadji ). I loved Rocky and Bullwinkle, but especially the fractured fairytales.
Of course, the Bugs bunny/Road Runner show. My favorites were Wile E Coyote and the gizmo’s he purchased from the ACME company. Why didn’t he just buy some carryout with all that money? Marvin the Martian. Foghorn,
yuck to woody the woodpecker and Popeye.
Here are some others less watched, but enjoyed also:
The Archie Gang, Perils of Penelope Pitstop with Peter Perfect, Dastardly & Mutley in their Flying Machines,
Kukla, Fran and Ollie, Land of the Lost (My Man was talking about the slow moving sleestaks the other night. Everyone was terrified of them but even a toddler could outrun them), Shazam and
Ones with cool songs that stick in your head:
Hey, hey, hey… it’s Fat Albert
The Pink Panther
HR Pufnstuf
Say Hey We’re the Monkees
Harlem Globetrotters (Sweet Georgia Brown, come on, whistle it!)
George, George, George of the Jungle…
Schoolhouse rock… zero, my hero
I, I, I, I, I am the frito bandito…. (ok, that was just a commercial).
